The Department of Hindi, Yuvaraja’s college, Mysore has a history of 77 years.  It was founded  in the year 1928.  The department began by offering intermediate courses and in 1948, degree courses were introduced.  Yuvaraja’s college being a science college, Hindi is taught as a language for the I and II year B.Sc classes only.
            The Department of Hindi has been over the years served by many eminent teachers like Prof. N.Nagappa, Dr.V.D.Hegde and Smt.Gowramma.  Dr.D.R.Jayaprakash is the present head of the department , worked as Chairman , BOS and BOE of the college.
